A Nigerian education advocate, Mr. Seyi Anifowose, has officially earned a Guinness World Record for organizing the largest gathering of teachers in history.1 The record was set at the “Let There Be Teachers Conference 2025,” which took place on September 20 at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos.2
The event, powered by the organization 1 Million Teachers, drew an unprecedented number of educators from across Nigeria.3 Organizers had projected an attendance of 60,000 teachers, and the turnout was officially certified by Guinness World Records.4
According to a representative from Guinness World Records, the achievement is significant because it brings global attention to the critical issue of education and the welfare of teachers.5
Beyond simply setting a record, Anifowose stated that the event’s primary goal was to spotlight the challenges and contributions of Nigerian teachers.6 He emphasized that the next phase of his advocacy would involve engaging the National Assembly on policy reforms aimed at improving the country’s education system and boosting teachers’ welfare.7
