Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially become a voting member of the Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammy Awards. This new role will allow him to participate in the voting process for the upcoming 2026 Grammy Awards.

Davido described his admission into the Academy as a “game-changer,” emphasizing the importance of having a voice in the decision-making process for the prestigious awards. He expressed his honor at joining the community and stated he looks forward to contributing to the voting.

The inclusion of Davido is part of a broader effort by the Recording Academy to diversify its membership and increase representation from international artists, particularly from the growing Afrobeats genre.

Davido received three nominations at the 2024 Grammys and another nomination for the 2025 awards for his collaboration on the song “Sensational.” As a voting member, he will now have a direct role in selecting nominees and winners for future ceremonies.
