The first matchday of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League has concluded, with Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Tottenham all securing victories. The new league-phase format has seen all 36 teams play one match each. ⚽️

Matchday 1 Results

Here are the results from the opening fixtures of the Champions League league phase:

  • Arsenal won their first match, defeating Athletic Club 2-0.
  • Real Madrid started their campaign with a 2-1 win over Marseille.
  • Tottenham earned a narrow 1-0 victory against Villarreal.
  • Paris Saint-Germain had a strong showing, beating Atalanta 4-0.
  • Manchester City secured a 2-0 home win against Napoli.
  • Bayern Munich defeated Chelsea 3-1.
  • Liverpool won a close match against Atlético de Madrid, 3-2.
  • Barcelona also started with a win, beating Newcastle United 2-1.
  • Juventus and Borussia Dortmund played out a high-scoring 4-4 draw.

Champions League Table

After the first round of games, the league table is based on points, with goal difference and goals scored as tie-breakers. All teams with a win currently have 3 points.

The top of the table is led by teams with the best goal difference:

  • Eintracht Frankfurt (+4)
  • Paris Saint-Germain (+4)
  • Club Brugge (+3)
  • Sporting CP (+3)
  • Union Saint-Gilloise (+2)
  • Bayern Munich (+2)
  • Arsenal (+2)
  • Inter Milan (+2)
  • Manchester City (+2)

Teams finishing in the top eight will qualify directly for the knockout rounds, while teams in positions 9-24 will enter a two-legged knockout-phase playoff.

Upcoming Fixtures (Matchday 2)

Matchday 2 is scheduled for September 30 and October 1, 2025. Key fixtures include:

  • September 30: Chelsea vs. Benfica, Tottenham vs. Bodø/Glimt, and Liverpool vs. Galatasaray.
  • October 1: Arsenal vs. Olympiacos, Barcelona vs. Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid vs. Villarreal.
