The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 26 suspected kidnappers and recovered firearms and a portion of a ransom in a series of coordinated raids between October 3 and 5, 2025.1
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the operations, conducted in partnership with the Kaduna Vigilance Service, targeted criminal gangs in the Anchau, Ikara, and Makarfi local government areas.
Key details of the arrests include:
- Anchau: Six suspects were arrested, including one Jibrin Abubakar, in a raid on October 5. They are linked to the kidnapping of a 60-year-old man, Idris Adamu, for whom they collected a ransom of ₦5 million. Police recovered ₦546,000 believed to be part of the ransom, along with two fabricated pump-action rifles.
- Ikara: On October 3, operatives arrested Habibu Alhaji Ahmadu, known as Munyaye, who reportedly confessed to masterminding an armed attack on a local businessman. Two locally-made revolver rifles were recovered from him.
- Makarfi: Following a tip-off from a recently freed kidnap victim, police raided hideouts in Gazara Village on October 4, arresting 14 suspects, one of whom had a previous kidnapping charge.
All the suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices and recover more weapons.2 The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, praised the operatives for their efforts in the state’s fight against kidnapping and violent crime.
