Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that no community in the state is left behind in his administration’s development agenda. This assurance was made on multiple occasions, including during a thanksgiving service to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary.

The governor’s promise is centered on a philosophy of equitable and inclusive growth, with tangible plans already in motion to spread development across all 18 local government areas. Key components of this strategy include:

  • Road Infrastructure: As a major part of his “rolling road development program,” Governor Aiyedatiwa has approved the construction of five-kilometer road projects in each of the 18 local government areas. This initiative, which translates to a total of 90 kilometers of new roads in its first phase, is designed to improve connectivity, ease transportation of goods, and stimulate economic activity in rural and urban areas alike.
  • Rural and Urban Development: The administration has also unveiled a new policy blueprint, “OUR EASE,” which focuses on a number of key areas, including urban and rural development. This is aimed at creating a more balanced and widespread distribution of infrastructure and social amenities.
  • Security: Acknowledging the role of security in fostering development, the governor has pledged to fortify the security apparatus, especially in border communities, to combat issues like kidnapping and banditry. He has called for active participation from citizens in ensuring the safety of their communities.
  • Long-Term Planning: The government is also working on a 30-year Long-Term Development Plan (Ondo 2054) to guarantee sustainable growth. This plan is designed to be inclusive, with inputs from various stakeholders to ensure that the needs of the people are at the core of all developmental projects.
  • Accountability and Transparency: Governor Aiyedatiwa has promised an all-inclusive and transparent administration. He has emphasized that his government will be accountable to the people and will run in their best interest, with a focus on delivering on its promises.

These assurances reflect the government’s recognition of the need for grassroots development and a departure from a centralized approach, ensuring that the benefits of governance are felt in every corner of the state.
