MTN Nigeria has announced that its Dabengwa Data Centre in Lagos has been awarded the Tier III Certification for Constructed Facility (TCCF) by the Uptime Institute, a globally recognized benchmark for data center performance and reliability.1

The certification is a significant milestone for MTN, as it confirms that the facility was built to meet stringent international standards for availability, redundancy, and operational sustainability.2 This means the data center has multiple independent paths for power and cooling, allowing for routine maintenance and repairs to be conducted without causing any service disruption.3

With the Tier III certification, the Dabengwa Data Centre is expected to achieve an uptime of 99.982%, which translates to a maximum of just 1.6 hours of unplanned downtime per year.4 This high level of resilience is critical for businesses that rely on uninterrupted access to data and services.5

The achievement is a key part of MTN’s “Ambition 2025” strategy, which prioritizes the development of a robust digital infrastructure to support Nigeria’s growing digital economy.6 The Dabengwa Data Centre, which was launched in July 2025, is one of Nigeria’s largest prefabricated modular data facilities.7 It is also one of only a few facilities in the country to hold both the Tier III Certification for Design Documentation and the TCCF.

This development positions MTN Nigeria as a major player in the country’s data hosting market, offering businesses a local, reliable, and secure alternative to hosting their data with international providers.8
